Favorite Hollywood Celebrities Leather Jackets

FAVORITE HOLLYWOOD CELEBRITIES LEATHER JACKETS

Maybe you can’t recall how many times you’ve seen movie stars wear leather jackets. Did you know there’s a reason why movie stars wear leather jackets? Perhaps because these jackets are associated with rebellion and have a tough-guy vibe about them.

Tom Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ryan Gosling, to name a few, are among the many Hollywood stars who have worn leather jackets in films to demonstrate their fashion sense. Those celebrity jackets later became popular movie jackets that everyone wanted to own, causing a stir in the fashion industry. Similarly popular as the casinos discussed in online casino reviews about top trusted websites.

Many people have bomber and bike jackets in their wardrobes as a result of the popularity of Hollywood movies. If you’re envious of Hollywood stars and want to add a perfect leather jacket to your wardrobe, here’s a list of jackets to consider. The top all-time favorite Hollywood celebrity leather jackets are included on the list.

X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE’S JACKET

The 2009 film X-Men Origins tells the story of Wolverine’s childhood. It also goes into depth about his time with Team X and how his skeleton became bonded to the adamantium alloy. The same stories may have appeared in the X-Men Origins comic books.

Wolverine adopts a variety of different looks in the Hollywood film. His brown Wolverine sweater, on the other hand, is a memorable look. Wolverine’s rugged fundamental feel is reflected in his civilian clothes, unkempt look, and mutton chops. Blue tiger stripes adorn this brown jacket, adding to the character’s animalistic feel and appearance.

FIGHT CLUB BRAD PITT’S RETRO RED LEATHER JACKET

The structure and content of the 1999 film Fight Club work well together. The comedy contains a number of surprising and controversial ideas. Almost anything in this film can make you laugh. Tyler’s Red Leather Jacket, on the other hand, isn’t funny, but it will get your attention.

Tyler’s character and the film’s jumpy feel are captured in the jacket, which is made of beautiful red leather. The oversized jacket has peaked lapels in addition to its blood-red color. It will undoubtedly transport you to the late 1990s.

It’s often fashionable and entertaining. It was a good fit for the daring characters because of its dark rebellious side.

GREASE SANDRA DEE’S BLACK LEATHER JACKET

The 1978 film Grease is a must-see for anyone interested in fashion. The film follows a greaser who develops a nice relationship with an Australian girl named Sandy. The 1970s film features old-fashioned musicals, malt shops, hot rods, and school dances.

You’ll appreciate the majority of the performances as well. Sandra Dee’s Black Leather Jacket, on the other hand, must be seen at the very end. Sandra’s defiant attitude inspired the designer to create this jacket. Sandra achieves a chic, hipper, and edgier look by wearing this jacket.

The traditional leather jacket has a seductive edge thanks to its eye-catching red lining and cropped style.

THE TERMINATOR ANOLD SCHWARZENEGGER’S LEATHER JACKET

The Terminator is one of the best-selling films of all time. You don’t have to watch the whole movie to notice a lovely fashion item. Arnold Schwarzenegger appears in a black leather jacket at the start of the film.

The designers may have chosen this jacket because it is associated with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s calm demeanor. Schwarzenegger wore black shades to complete his badass look. Many movie fans have stayed loyal to this zip-up black leather jacket.

What Things Are Essential for Top Writers

What Things Are Essential for Top Writers

Writing intriguing content takes a combination of several things. The writer thinks of
ideas, searches out information, and pieces it together to create a complete,
informative piece of information. To help the writer achieve this, he needs to write
down the ideas on paper, which he needs to have everywhere he goes. But sometimes any writer may have difficulty in finding the right thoughts for content, or you may need a writer for a specific niche so you can hire a freelance writer for achieving important writing goals

He needs important items like a laptop, a phone, and the internet. Another level of
writers requires headphones, a dictionary, and citing manuals. All in all, every top
writer should have with them a list of top items.

A leather handbook

As a great writer, you can never tell the time when great ideas will begin to flow in
your mind. Ideas might begin to flow when you are on a commuter train, while hiking,
when asleep, when writing, walking, and so on.

The important thing is for you to get ready with a notebook and a pen so that the
moment you begin to get ideas, you can pull out your leather notebook and
begin writing each idea or inspiration as it comes.

A leather notebook will serve you better because sometimes you might be in an
open place and it begins to rain. With a leather notebook, you will not worry about
your notebook soaking in the rain and you lose all your important ideas.

Leather notebooks can be particularly useful to writers who travel a lot or those who
like working form outdoors. The notebook looks neat and expensive.

A leather notebook bag

A notebook is useful whenever you need to quickly write down some inspiring ideas,
but you cannot carry them around in your hands. A notebook bag will help you
accomplish this purpose and you will feel more comfortable carrying it around.

There are many notebook bags available in the market, but before you buy, shop for
one that best suits you. You might want to carry other portable essentials with you
like a laptop, a voice recorder, headphones, and so on. You don’t need to buy a bag
for each item because one beautiful, luxurious bag will do the work.

If you work from an office in the city or your local town, you might want to buy a
bigger bag. Some writers, like travel writers, take a lot of photos and videos, then
develop a story. They require a bigger bag. Writers who don’t need to move a lot
might be comfortable with a smaller bag. It should be rain resistant and the material
should be long-lasting.

Essay writers need a notebook bag

Essay writers must be keen on providing quality essays to students and help them
submit their assignments on time. This calls for the writers to work overtime on some
occasions or carry their work to go and complete it from another place.

A good example is the experienced essay writers from EduBirdie who avail
themselves 24/7 to provide quality essays to students. Writers need quality leather
notebook bags because of their durability. The bags look smart, they are breathable
and can carry several items.

A wallet

The idea of carrying a wallet might seem obvious or unnecessary for a writer.
Wallets have evolved and today, there are hundreds of different wallet designs,
sizes, and uses. For a writer, the wallet is important because you slip in your papers
containing important ideas and carry them for many days until your project is
complete.

Some wallets are bigger and can be tied on the belt so that you slip in your phone, a
pen, a tiny leather notebook, and earphones. When it is fixed on your belt, you just
need to unzip and remove your essential notebook, pen, or phone. You might also
hide a few notes and coins in the wallet to use at the hour of need.

A daily planner

A daily planner will help you stick to your writing schedules and give priority to those
assignments with closer deadlines. With a daily planner, you can group your writing
according to categories, word count, priority, client, and so on.

Conclusion

It may not be necessary for a writer to buy everything there is in the market, but each
one needs to make a list of their essential items and shop for the best. Writers are
different and form different categories like academic writers, bloggers, marketers,

health, travel, and so on. The list of essentials can be general, but the writer can
create their specific list. What’s important is for the items to serve the intended
purpose.

Celebrity-Approved Ways To Wear Leather

Celebrity-Approved Ways To Wear Leather

If you have yet to add leather pieces to your closet, now is the perfect time to do so. Not only is leather a highly versatile material, but wearing good quality leather jackets, boots, belts, bags, and other accessories can give any outfit a luxurious feel. Celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Lady Gaga often don leather items to give their look an edge. Moreover, some stars have mastered the art of wearing leather to make their on-camera outfits more unique, and to give their off-duty wear a dose of chic. For some fashion inspiration, here are a few celebrity-approved ways to wear leather.

Leather trousers

The Kardashian/Jenner sisters are known to be major trendsetters, and they’re behind some of the most unique summer and swimwear looks, such as the upside down string bikini trend. But apart from their amazing hot weather outfits, the reality stars are also known to wear lots of leather pieces – specifically, leather trousers. Take a leaf out of Kim Kardashian’s book, and wear tailored black trousers that fit close to the thighs but end in a slight flare at the hem. For a sleek look, get inspired by Kendall Jenner, who wears skin-tight leather trousers paired with everyday basics, such as a sports bra, a black turtleneck shirt, or a basic white t-shirt.

Meanwhile, for those who like to wear leather pants in a unique way, take fashion tips from Victoria Beckham. The fashion designer rolls up the hems of her skin-tight leather trousers, and pairs them with a camel trench and heels. You can also get style inspiration from Margot Robbie, who was spotted at a pre-Oscars event wearing leather palazzo pants paired with a cropped blouse.

Leather bags

Female celebrities often sport the hottest leather bags of the season, but a few male actors and singers have also been photographed carrying their gear in beautiful leather bags. The members of the Korean boyband, BTS, are always spotted carrying branded leather bags, with Jin toting a black business bag for daily wear, while Jungkook prefers a soft leather carry-all for travels. Meanwhile, their bandmate Jimin is defying gender norms by wearing a black quilted leather bag with chains, while RM prefers leather sling bags or shoulder bags in tan or caramel. Other celebrities who have been spotted carrying leather bags include David Beckham, who was seen wearing a tan messenger bag with a gray suit, and actor Liev Schrieber, who paired his glossy caramel messenger bag with a black hoodie and khakis.

Leather accessories

Apart from leather apparel, leather accessories are also popular among celebrities and style makers. Items such as leather chokers are back in style, and models such as Alessandra Ambrosio and Gigi Hadid have been seen wearing thin black leather chokers to spice up their outfits. Leather bracelets are also quite popular these days, and Johnny Depp often wears them to complete his bohemian ensembles. For something a little more risqué, try wearing a leather body belt harness over a basic long-sleeved shirt, as seen on Kpop groups such as BTS, Blackpink, and Monsta X.

Level up your style by incorporating leather pieces into your everyday wear. Take a cue from these celebrities and experiment by mixing and matching your leather clothing and accessories with your outfits, and see which looks will suit you best.

Victory Leathercraft Secret Compartment Hidn Belt Now on Kickstarter!

We see a lot of belts at BestLeather. While they all hold your pants up, that’s about it for most of them.  However, Victory Leathercraft has an innovative belt with a secret hidden compartment, available exclusively on Kickstarter! We are particularly excited because up until now, most belts with secret compartments were made of cheap leather and had flimsy zipper pockets. Victory has utilized English Bridle Leather (Think high quality equine harness type materials) and stainless steel hardware.

Available to pre-order on Kickstarter, the Hidn belt smashed through its funding target in under 3 minutes from launch!

Pete Sandford of Victory Leathercraft has built an envious reputation for his innovative yet stylish and beautifully hand-crafted leather goods that are built to last a lifetime.
The new Hidn belt is no exception.

Anyone who has ever lost their wallet, purse or been the victim of a pickpocket knows how devastating it can be to be stranded somewhere without access to funds. It was Pete’s personal experience (having been the victim of an attempted mugging and two attempted pickpocketings) that prompted him to develop this product.

The Hidn belt was designed to combat these situations. Invisible when worn, a secret compartment allows the wearer to covertly carry emergency cash, survival gear, memory cards, medication or other small items safely away from prying eyes.
It’ll be sure to have a wide appeal, for use at home or on holiday, from the boardroom to the backwoods.

Individually hand crafted from a piece of very special 13oz premium bridle leather from England’s oldest tannery and fitted with a solid stainless steel roller buckle, the Hidn belt packs a surprise in the form of a secret compartment that’s only accessible when the belt buckle is unfastened.
It’s worth mentioning here that this leather is tanned in a time-honoured way that’s totally environmentally friendly because the process uses nothing more than the bark of English oak trees and local river water, in a long, slow process that takes some eighteen months to complete.. This is in stark contrast to over 90% of leather used today that is tanned using metals such as chromium that have been shown to pollute rivers and surrounding land. Tucked away in England’s West Country, there has been a tannery on this spot since Roman times and it has been in the ownership of the present family for over two hundred years.

How to Pair an Outfit to Your Leather Bag

This is a sponsored post by BestLeather – Compensation was given, we appreciate your participation in supporting our site.

How to Pair an Outfit to Your Leather Bag

A bag is an important part of any outfit, and when you are the owner of a classic leather bag, you might even want to shape your outfit around it. Keeping the focus on the bag while dressing to impress can be tricky, but there are a few key ways to get you there. Here is how to pair an outfit with your leather bag.

Think About Color

If you have a brown leather bag, then teal and turquoise would make it pop. Alternatively, you could stick with the warm shades and pair the leather bag with peaches, oranges, and reds – this would look especially gorgeous in the autumn.

For a black leather bag, you cannot go too wrong when it comes to color, as black goes with pretty much anything! There is something eye-catching about the classic black and white look, though, especially if you are going for business casual.

Consider the Type of Bag

Does it go across your shoulder? Is it a handbag? The outfit you choose will depend on the type of leather bag you are pairing it with. While an over-the-shoulder satchel would pair well with a more casual outfit (think jeans and a blouse/shirt), a smart envelope bag would go nicely with a dressier look, like a bodycon dress and court heels.

Match a Perfume

The right leather bag deserves the perfect scent to go alongside it, so choose a deep, woody perfume that gives off the same classic beauty as your bag. If you like to play around with scents, use scentmagic.com for a monthly perfume subscription. By receiving a new fragrance each month, you are more likely to find the ideal scent to match your bag.

Choose One Other Leather Accessory

Unlike denim, double leather is not a fashion sin. In fact, if it is done right, it can look fabulous. Try pairing your leather bag with another simple but elegant accessory, such as a watch. You could take it a step further and pair it with a leather jacket, but that depends on how much leather you want in your outfit!

Choose Classic Pieces

Leather bags and classic clothing items go hand in hand – think blue jeans, white shirts, and boots. You could even choose some leather boots as your one other leather accessory! By creating an outfit with classic pieces, your look will be clean, elegant, and stylish.

Lay it All Out

You need to see it to know if it is right, so if you are planning an outfit to go with your leather bag, take the time to lay out the clothes and see if the colors and materials match. This is a great, simple way of seeing what works and what does not without trying on ten different variations of a similar outfit. Don’t forget to add in the jewelry!

Your leather bag deserves a little thought into what goes around it, so consider colors, material, and scent before letting the world witness your classic style.

Goruck Weighted Sandbag Review – $145.00

Disclosure: We are a professional review site that receives compensation from the companies whose products we review. We test each product thoroughly and give high marks to only the very best. We are independently owned and the opinions expressed are our own.

2020 has been a rough year, there were severe shortages in major areas such as medical masks, disinfectant and the almighty toilet paper roll. Another lesser known shortage was home fitness equipment. Gyms shut down and tens of thousands were scrambling for exercise machines, dumbbells- even a thigh master or shake weight were fetching hefty premiums. It was in this search I found a brilliant product, the Goruck Weighted Sandbag.

Construction

The Goruck Sandbag is made of 1000D Cordura – That’s about twice as thick as the nylon on the old Jansport you had in 5th grade. For zippers we see heavy duty YKK zips with paracord pulls. All critical stress areas are double or triple stitched. This bag has a lifetime guarantee. If you somehow manage to break the bag, Goruck will fix it..and probably wonder how on earth you managed that. The sand (You must supply) is kept securely in a tough nylon bag with double folding velcro – Don’t worry, the sand does not escape at all.

Function

This bag can do it all. There are multiple handles positioned on the tops, sides and ends of the bag. You can perform shrugs, squats, bicep curls, log lifts and the list goes on and on. I really enjoy the near instant transitions. I can go from body squats to bent over rows to shrugs without setting the bag down once.

Please note, you do have to get the sand at your local hardware store to fill the inner pocket. I strongly suggest “Play Sand” that has been washed and sifted – Anything else and you risk powder seeping through the nylon. See the below video on how to fill it.

Aesthetic

A cursory glance and the Goruck looks like a slender duffle bag. The tank like construction looks at home among the rubber mats, iron plates and dumbbells in my basement gym. At the end of the day it’s a tool and looks are nugatory. However, this tool happens to look pretty awesome.

Conclusion

At $145, The Goruck Sandbag is a bit pricey considering other options on the market. When it comes to something as messy as sand, and the fact that the bag endures tremendous stress and abuse through training – I would only trust Goruck – Saving $50 bucks and having a bag rip at the seams would be no fun- Buy the best and cry once. This fitness tool offers endless uses and will be a staple in your home gym for years.

Rogue Industries Front Pocket Wallet Review – $55.00

Disclosure: We are a professional review site that receives compensation from the companies whose products we review. We test each product thoroughly and give high marks to only the very best. We are independently owned and the opinions expressed are our own.

I’m usually a creature of habit. Oatmeal with walnuts and raisins for breakfast, Blue Chuck Taylor All Stars for the gym, and the list could go on. However, when it comes to my Everyday Carry, I’m always looking for ways to refine and hone the things I always have on me.  My wallet usually inhabits my rear pocket, but lately it’s been bothering me especially when driving.  After doing some serious research in the hallowed annals of men’s billfolds, I came across Rogue Industries Front Pocket Wallet – A wallet that goes in your front pocket might sound like hearsay, but read on brethren, and you too might become believers.

Construction

The Rogue Industries Front Pocket Wallet measures in at about 5.75” inches long by 3.4 inches tall and is about a quarter of an inch thick when empty. It weighs in at 1.6 ounces. Rogue Industries offers this model in multiple textiles including Moose leather, Nylon, Waxed Canvas, etc. The model I opted for was Bison Leather. I chose Bison because the leather has a unique grain pattern and is inherently very rugged looking. The large porous nature of the skin also makes this breathable which is a must for me since I loathe pulling out a sweaty billfold. This puppy is made in Maine, USA and carries a 2 year warranty.

Function

First off, this wallet smells great. Before Covid it wasn’t uncommon to see me fidgeting with my wallet while waiting to get my crown repaired at the dentist. Now I do so socially distanced in my home. What makes Rogue Industries Front Pocket Wallet so popular is the signature half taco shape that just slips effortlessly into your front pocket. If you take a pair of your favorite jeans/shorts, hold them up and look at the front pockets from the interior of the pants, you’ll notice the wallet is shaped very similarly to the pocket – which makes it sit naturally.

This is a great feature especially when driving or moving around frequently, front pocket wallets tend to stay more secure and are much less prone to falling out than your back wallet. You could go to put your wallet in your back pocket and miss and never knew it hit the ground, that’s much harder to do when the wallet is in front of you.

Wallet retrieval is very smooth and once out operates like any billfold.  There’s plenty of space for cards, and if you want you can opt for the ID window version as well. Another brilliant feature is RFID blocking to protect your credit/security access cards from thieves. Speaking of which, a front pocket wallet is nearly impossible to pickpocket.

Aesthetic

I really dig the look of this wallet. It’s not another yawn worthy billfold. The Bison leather looks great and really gives this wallet depth and a tangible testament to American craftsmanship. Sometimes a quality wallet gives a great, but subtle impression. Say you pay for your coworkers lunch and pull out this classy wallet, I’m sure they’ll look right at it and notice it’s a quality piece.

Conclusion

I’ve always been a back pocket wallet type of guy. However, the design and functionality of The Rogue Industries Front Pocket Wallet is hard to pass up. It’s a more comfortable carry, especially when sitting. The added security of RFID blocking and having your wallet in front of you as opposed to behind just makes sense. The wallet’s fit and finish are great, and the materials seem top notch. I’m kind of taken back at the 2 year warranty but at the $55 price point it’s not a deal breaker.

Trayvax Summit Wallet & Trek Field Knife Review – $34.99 & 169.99

I’ve been following Trayvax since the beginning when they offered just one extraordinary wallet. Since then they’ve grown and expanded their product line with tons of other cool gear. I wanted to spotlight on one of their original designs as well as one of their totally new offerings. We’re big on EDC here at Bestleather so taking a look at a couple core components was a rare treat. Read on for the full scoop!

Construction

The Summit Wallet is one of Trayvax marquee products. A no nonsense card and cash carry device in a radical design.  Constructed of solid steel with a mil-spec nylon strap, the Summit is a simple, durable wallet. The wallet is also treated with a melonite finish which hardens the metal without adding another layer to it.

The Trek Field Knife is a skeletonized frame composed of CPM S35VN Stainless Steel – This steel has a respectable 58-61 on the Rockwell Hardness Scale. CPM S35VN Stainless Steel also has superior edge retention and corrosion resistance. Blade length is 3.5”

Function

The Summit is a minimalist wallet in function. The updated version now offers RFID blocking, a seeming must have feature in today’s technologically advancing society. You can fit about 5 or so cards comfortably and about 6 or so cash bills. If like me, you don’t handle cash that much, this isn’t an issue. However if you’re constantly in and out for cash, I’d consider it a little more closely. It works great as a front pocket carry.

The Trek Field Knife is definitely a unique knife and follows Trayvax’s signature line of innovative designs. It’s an ambidextrous design that allows several retrieval options from the supplied holster.

I’m a big fan of the steel used, but not a fan of the handle. I’m thinking of wrapping it with paracord to give it better grip and ergonomics. The slim profile is definitely unobtrusive and really blends in with your everyday attire. This knife can cut rope as well as it can peel an apple.

Aesthetic

The great thing about Trayvax, is that their designs are almost instantly recognizable.  Even a knife and a wallet, two very unrelated objects and you can tell their kin. The skeletal structures are very industrial but polished as well. They’re so different from the norm, I find myself just fidgeting with my wallet sometimes – appreciating all that metalloid goodness.

Conclusion

Trayvax is a great American company. Their innovative products have spawned a legion of copycats. The design isn’t for everyone, but you can’t deny the unique angle of both the Trayvax Summit Wallet and Trek Field Knife.

Goruck GR1 Backpack Rucksack Review – $265.00

We love leather, it’s our go to, time tested, mother approved textile of choice when it comes to bags, boots and bondage. However, there are times when we definitely concede that it’s not the best choice in a given situation. For backpacks, I honestly prefer synthetics. The weight, flexibility and convenience are hard to pass up when you’re on the go. I’ve had all the major bags from Tom Bihn down to Jansport and the one I found best for me, was the GR1 Backpack. Let me explain the pros and cons of this puppy in this Goruck GR1 Review.

Construction

The Goruck GR1 is made from 1000D Cordura. For reference, the JanSport backpack you had in 5th grade with the leather bottom is about 400 to 600 denier nylon. The pack features double and sometimes triple stitching in all the critical stress areas, and it’s so durable that I would dare say that it’s almost abrasive at times. The duffle version of this bag would actually wear the fabric off some of my more delicate t-shirts when wearing it, so something to think about. Zippers are heavy duty YKK with paracord pulls.

Goruck strangely offers this bag in a Made in the USA version for $295 and an imported model for $265 – This is almost a no brainer, spend the extra $30 and go American. If it was like $50 + dollars it might warrant more consideration.

Function

I recently challenged myself on a 5 day trip to California. I absolutely hate being bogged down with luggage when traveling, so I decided to try to keep it all to one bag. This bag is definitely on the smaller side, so this meant foroging a lot of creature comforts. But with careful use of compression packing cubes  and some high quality merino shirts/underwear I was able to cover all my bases.

On a day to day basis the bag is great, the front slotted pocket is good for slim tablets/books. The absence of a water bottle pocket is felt, and while you can always add a MOLLE bottle holder, it hurts the look and agile nature of the bag. I was able to get my lunch, Nalgene and a spare shirt in it on most days. But the bag was definitely packed. If you carry a little more,  I would opt for the larger version.

The pads are thick and comfortable, but the bag doesn’t breathe too well on your back.  The handle up top is infallible. The padded laptop sleeve in the back has a hard shell and is nice and thick.

Aesthetic

I personally think this is one of the best looking backpacks around, It’s rugged yet sleek and does not have that overly tactical feel. While that streamlined aesthetic comes at a cost of storage utility, I still find myself  willing to put up with a few drawbacks. I love the velcro for patches as it makes the bag quickly identifiable and it’s always fun to swap them around.

Conclusion

The Goruck GR1 backpack is definitely something you need to weigh out before purchase. If this bag’s functionality works for you, and you know you’ll be using it often then it’s almost a no-brainer. It will last for years and the initial cost investment will be offset by length in service.   Legendary durability aside, it’s definitely one of the cleanest, aesthetically sound bags I’ve reviewed. This is my go-to bag. And though it does have some hiccups in terms of convenience, those issues can be addressed with aftermarket attachments easily.

How To Clean and Condition Leather Featuring Chamberlain Leather Milk

Chamberlain Leather Milk - Leather Reviews

Making your first big leather purchase can be a fun and taxing experience. Most quality leather goods command a premium price and definitely live up to the, “Buy the best only cry once” mantra. We get asked a lot about what we do for our leather goods, and people are usually surprised when we say very little. One of the great things about premium leather is that it doesn’t really require much. Personally, I condition a few times a year depending on use. We’ve sampled dozens of conditioners, and we’ve come to prefer Chamberlain’s Leather Milk

High quality leather is usually treated with a tanning process. This treats the leather against premature aging and somewhat seals the leather from outside exposure, almost like wood is treated with stain. Over time the leather can lose some of those oils due to wear and exposure. That’s where a quality leather conditioner comes in. Treating leather is a pretty simple procedure.

First take a soft brush or cloth rag and brush off any large debris like caked on dirt or dust. Then you take your applicator pad (Included with a bottle of Leather Milk) and squirt a very tiny dollop onto the pad (We recommend spot testing in a hard to see area just to make sure you like what you see) then work into the leather in a circular motion ala Karate Kid. A thin layer is all you need.

You can see how the leather darkens a little after application, this is normal – The belt is a Sandlot Goods Horween Leather.

You’ll see great results right away but don’t think more is better, you will just end up making the leather greasy. Wipe any excess off with a clean rag. Wait about 10 minutes for the conditioner to seep into the leather and buff out the surface with a dry cloth. Voila!

Notice how the fine lines in the bottom picture are slightly diminished after treatment. The character and patina remain, but the leather is moisturized.

Chamberlain’s Leather Milk is all natural and made in the USA – so we’re proud to offer it. It will go a long ways in rejuvenating your leather and making it supple and smooth. Heck, I even put some under my eyes at night to remove the black spots- Just kidding! In all seriousness, I do my Redwing Iron Rangers boots twice a year and they look great. Usually right before Fall hits and once again when winter is over, just to keep the leather healthy while stored away. Same goes for bags, wallets and belts. If the leather ever feels stiff or brittle, just give the leather a little CPR with Chamberlains!

We also made a quick How To video to see it all in action. Thanks again for reading!

Col. Littleton No. 120 Leather Valet Tray Review – $190.00

I’ll always remember my dad coming home from work as a kid. I’d hear the sputter of his pick up, the clank of him slamming the door. He’d always come in and empty his pockets on the entryway table. His keys, wallet, loose change and a few mysterious nuts and bolts would be haphazardly thrown on the table. Day after day, year after year – the table had a veritable crater from the constant barrage. Fast forward twenty something years and I found myself replicating the carnage on my nightstand. It was at this point I decided to delve into the wonderful and mysterious world of Valets, or Catch-Alls for the uninitiated. Little did I know I would stumble on the granddaddy of them all, Colonel Littleton’s No. 120 Leather Valet.

Colonel Littleton considers every aspect of their products, down to the handsome shipping box.

Construction

The leather quality is superb, the oils used in the tanning process give the valet a soft glow.

Most valets are composed of leather and thread for stitching. And like any Colonel worth his salt, Littleon’s No. 120 Valet has his own secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices…well, 3 in this case. The meat of the valet is composed of Italian Bridle Leather that has undergone vegetable tanning. This thick full grain leather is really what you want in a valet, prized in equestrian circles for its tough, resilient properties – Bridle leather will stand up to the constant contact with your keys/wallet/etc. The valet is crafted in Littleton’s own shop in Lynnville, Tennessee.

We see one large leather panel composing the body of the valet, which is joined at the corners with solid brass rivets. American Cherry wood forms a reinforced rim around the valet, adding structural integrity to the piece.  The edges of the leather are burnished over as well. Dimensions for the valet are reported at 10.75″ W x 8.5” H x 2.5″ D

  Function

It’s hard to critique the function of a valet, as it’s pretty simple in nature. The size hits that sweet spot of getting all of your essentials in without taking up too much counter top real estate.

If I could add anything to the functionality of the piece it would be a plastic insert with a 3 section divider for keeping my phone away from my coins/keys. Handles on the sides would be pretty cool for converting the No. 120 into a swank serving tray. Because I know I’m not the only one who wouldn’t mind being served buttered biscuits out of this puppy!

Aesthetic

There isn’t an angle on this puppy that looks bad. Flip it over and you have a footstool fit for a king.

Colonel Littleton’s designs all just look oh so good. This valet is no exception. It has the ruggedness of John Wayne with the class of Paul Newman. A hot shot banker could throw his Porsche keys into this caddy just as easily as the foreman on a road crew.

Col Littleton also offers the option of initialing the brass plate with up to 3 letters. I chose “EDC” – short for Every Day Carry, as I’ve always been a gearhead and love having a safe depository for all of my pocket contents.

The stitching is clean and tight, the leather smooth. This is one where I just let the pictures do the talking.

Conclusion

You don’t just get a Valet when you order, oh no. A leather coaster arrived, as well as some pamphlets and a delicious Moon Pie treat!

I like to buy American whenever I can. Companies like American Giant, Triple Aught Design and Redwing have all earned spots in my daily arsenal. Colonel Littelton has definitely earned a spot as well. The price is pretty steep, there are a lot of quality valets out there for a third of the price – but for an item that will likely last decades, I think putting an empty wallet in Col. Littleton’s No. 120 Leather Vallet Tray for a little while is a moot point. The build quality, finish and craftsmanship are all on point. The use of choice materials really produces a product that personifies an almost lost era of American quality.

Ultimate Sack Ultimate Lounger Bag Chair Review – $294

Ah, the ol’ bean bag chair. Fond childhood memories arise as I think about swan diving from the top of the steps onto the dilapidated spleen made of polyvinyl chloride. Or even using it as an impromptu safety mat when emulating signature wrestling moves on my brother. As many uses as us kids had for the bean bag though, I can’t remember sitting in them as one of them. They were flat, soggy and spewed Styrofoam beans the minute your keister made contact. I was at WalMart last year and bought one for old times sake, and sure enough a week later it was useless.  It was in this moment of deepest despair I chanced upon the world of high end bag chairs…I speak of the Ultimate Sack.

Now you’re typical bean bag chair you bought at Moe’s Furniture and Plumbing Supply cost about $35 bucks, weighed 7 pounds and lasted 65 hours. Enter Ultimate Sack Bag Chairs, their bags weigh anywhere from 60 to over a 100 pounds! I pulled the trigger on the Ultimate Lounger Model, it’s more of an oval since I didn’t have the space for the more traditional round model. It came in a large box (Turnaround time was kind of slow at almost 2 weeks) and was compressed, similar to mail order mattresses. Once you remove it from the box, you kind of beat it up a little to break up the foam blocks and disperse the bag. Once you throw on the soft suede like cover, you’re in business.

The zippers are pretty beefy, and since the cover slip is generously sized, there’s not really any fear of it coming unstitched when you’re laying on it. And speaking of laying on it…it’s very comfortable. So much in fact that I’ve been sleeping on it at night over my bed. I really like the nestled in feeling, kind of like being a giant man-child baby back in the womb again. My feet and head are elevated and the sides sort of squeeze me, and it’s actually quite supportive. You may need a pillow when watching movies to prop your head up on.

Overall I’m very pleased with the Ultimate Sack Ultimate Lounger Bag Chair, I’ve had it a few months and the foam is still very much as it was the day I got it. They have sales pretty often, as the retail price can be steep (However you can get 15% off clicking any of the links in this post) and without any real guarantee you’re kind of stuck with it unless you want to pay $70 bucks or so to ship it back. All in all though, I think it’s great.

White’s Boots MP Service Boot Review – $579.95

Up until recently, I wasn’t aware of White’s Boots. As someone who handles and reviews leather products on a regular basis, I was frankly embarrassed I somehow glossed over them. It wasn’t until a collaboration project between White’s and Triple Aught Design that I discovered a boot company that quite possibly makes the finest boots available. After some heavy research, I needed to see what the company was made of. Enter White’s Boots MP Service Boot.

About

White’s Boots has been around a long time, they actually predate the Civil War. Originally started by a father son team, White’s specialized in logging boots. Originating in West Virginia and finally settling in Spokane Washington, the company has been constantly producing high quality boots since 1853.

Construction

This boot is made almost entirely by hand. From the sewing to the welt, a skilled craftsman built these piece by piece. The leather is sourced from the famous Horween leather tannery. The Chromexcel is a you guessed it, chrome tanned leather. I definitely prefer chrome tanning as I feel it handles the elements a little better than vegetable tanning. This is a 6” boot, and while the model reviewed is the brown version, White’s produces this in a handful of other finishes and colors. The soles are Dainite lugged and the boot features a toe cap.

 Function

For me, the largest roadblock with new boots is the break in process. Chances are if it’s a high quality boot (i.e Red Wing, Wolverine 1,000 Mile, etc) you’re going to have some discomfort initially. Yes, the MP Service Boots are no exception. Thankfully the leather is very supple and forgiving, so they mold to your feet a little quicker.

If you’re having trouble deciding what size you are, White’s has a brilliant foot sizing system in place. They will mail you a template, simply trace your foot wearing your boot socks and take a few quick measurements with the provided tape and mail it back. White’s will then recommend you a size, or if you’re a mutant – they can make a boot to fit you!

The Dainite Sole was new to me, usually I have Vibram soles. The Dainite is a softer sole with a large lug pattern. I definitely think they’re more comfortable and offer a sleeker profile than the half lug Vibrams, however if you’re the type who is off the trail, you’d probably want to consider these soles a little more closely.  Paired with a thick wool sock, these boots work nicely in moderately colder climates, the gusseted tongue keeps out excess moisture and debris.

The fact that I can resole these later on is an added bonus. Arch support is great, and I found prolonged periods of standing to be unexpectedly tolerable. Think of these boots as an around town footwear option that can handle the occasional contingency.

Aesthetic

I would argue that you’d be hard pressed to find a better looking boot that can handle a multitude of scenarios with as much adaptability that the MP Service Boots offer. Jeans, Chinos, etc – You’ll be solid. Horween leather is superb and I suspect these boots will take on a brilliant patina with time.

The waxed laces mesh well with the boot and definitely hold a knot better than traditional leather laces, although I would have liked to have seen metal aglets on the end that matched the lace keepers. The problem with White’s Boots – they make practically every other boot look flimsy and cheap. Now that I’ve experienced true American craftsmanship, I can’t simply pick up a pair of boots at DSW.

Conclusion

There is no question these are one of, if not the finest boots you can buy. The only real question remaining is if you can justify the cost. For the work boots made by Whites, I’d say it’s  no brainer. For a casual/lifestyle boot, it begs serious consideration. Just be careful, because once you try a pair on and handle them, almost everything else will feel subpar. White’s Boots MP Service Boot looks just about perfect, and once you get past the first few painful of weeks of breaking them in, you’ll have companions for life.

Tuff Writer Operator & Mini Click Pen Review – $95.00 & $115.00

We all know the adage, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” While this saying alludes to the power of the written word over the literal power and durability of a steel blade, I definitely wouldn’t mind possessing a writing instrument that could draft poetry as well as survive an earthquake. In my search for such a writing utensil, I came across the Tuff Writer Operator and Mini Click Pens.

                                                                                  Roll that beautiful bean footage

Construction

Let’s start with the guts of the Tuff Writer Operator (Shown in Blue) 6061-T6 Aerospace Grade Aluminum houses the Fisher SPR4 Pen. The 6061-T6 metal is extremely corrosion resistant, as well as very hard. This a great metal that performs will in areas where rust can be a hindrance. The exterior also employs a proprietary non marking/non reflective finish as well as being anodized for further durability. We see a cold pressed spring steel clip fastened by 2 hex bolts. The cap unscrews from the tip and pressure snaps onto the back for writing. The pen weighs 1.6 ounces and measures 6 inches.

All pens are personally crafted by Jack Roman, head of Tuff Writer. He describes them as “Living Designs” in that he never stops looking for ways to improve the pens, going so far as to rework already good mechanisms for even smoother operation.

The Mini Click is composed of brass, the model reviewed features a highly polished finish. We enjoy the same cold pressed steel clip. The Mini Click is you guessed it, a clicky pen. The cam mechanism is a Tuff Writer designed exclusive. The Mini Click measures in at 5.13 inches and weighs a robust 2.5 ounces. A Fisher SPR4 cartridge is housed as well.

The machining on these pens is superb. Notice how the line just disappears when the cap is screwed on.

Function

Since both of these pens utilize an after market ink cartridge, I won’t focus too much on the actual ink. Although I will say we enjoy all the benefits of a pressurized Fisher cartridge including writing underwater, upside down in 400 degree temperatures. If, although you find yourself in those conditions with a pen, I suggest you stop reading this at once and consult a life coach.

As for the pens in hand, well I find both have their strengths. The Operator’s light weight is really nice, especially considering it’s built like a tank – although the constant need to unscrew the cap makes it better suited for a desk pen in my situation. Both of these pens are built tough, not just for durability in the field but for last ditch self defense applications, I’ll leave it to the reader’s imagination though. The knurling provides decent grip without discomfort.

The tension on the mini clip is great, a very secure clip even on thin fabrics. The upward flare on the end means you can usually clip it one handed depending on the rigidity of the material. I’m digging the O Ring grips but am worried about their overall lifespan and replacements. This pen feels good in the hand, a very substantial feel. I’ve been using it to collect signatures at work and it almost never fails to solicit a, “Wow, nice pen!” remark.

Aesthetic

The thing I enjoy most about these pens, is they’re a different sort of breed. They’re sleek without being gaudy and stylish without pretension. While forms follows function, these pens still retain a quality aesthetic. Tuff Writer offers both of these models in a wide array of finishes too, so finding one that suits your personal style shouldn’t be difficult.

Not sure if I want to write a limerick with this baby or load it into a Howitzer!

The Operator works great on any PALS system, and stays put as well. It perfectly compliments my EDC

Conclusion

I had a good time working with these pens. Tuff Writer did a great job transmuting the concept of a pen as merely a writing device into an essential tool. The machining is flawless as much as I can tell and the price points are fair. Again I stress you consider your end use as the screw cap on the Operator can be a hindrance if you’re using the pen constantly in the field or require one hand operation. All said, if you’re in the market for a non disposable writing instrument that might just outlast you, I’d consider a Tuff Writer.

Choice Cuts Industries Dog Collar and Leash – $75

I’m so proud of my son. He’s 3 years old, healthy and strong and is finally ready for a big boy collar. Of course, you’ll realize my ‘son’ is handsome pup. My love of dogs and affinity for fine leather goods has always kept me on the hunt for that perfect leather collar and leash for him to be able to say bye bye to the ratty nylon one he’s had since he was a young pup. Choice Cuts Industries leather dog collars and leashes are simple yet elegant, well made and just a charm to look at and hold (and cuddle). Ok,ok..I promise to make this review about the leather goods and my pup!

About Choice Cuts Industries

Joel and Kerri Mills started Choice Cuts Industries in 2012. They create one of a kind, carefully crafted leather goods using traditional methods and the the finest American-tanned leather. From watch bands, Apple Watch bands, dog collars, and leashes to bags and everyday carry accessories, they design, make, and ship everything from their North Carolina workshop. They believe in creating beautiful functional items, made to last and improve with time.

Construction

The leather collar and leash is handmade using a single strip of bridal leather, copper rivets and sturdy antique brass hardware. The clasp on the leash is what most refer to as a ‘trigger hook swivel clasp’. Both pieces are 3/4 inches wide and the leash is 4 feet long. The color of this particular set is what they refer to as ‘chestnut’ and other colors are available as well.

Function

The collar and leash function extremely well and are a joy to use. Since we remove our guy’s collar every night before bed and when he goes in the water, I must say it is very easy to buckle on and off, an issue I sometimes have with leather collars and other buckles. The leash clasp is both functional and stylish with the antique finish and I feel very good knowing that it is extra secure should my boy see a squirrel or a mail carrier.

Aesthetic

I really like the minimalistic design of this set. There are some leather collars and leashes I’ve seen out there with more detail, stitches, rivets and other embellishes. But, honestly, I really like that the leather stands out and the design is simple yet beautiful. The leather is rich and gorgeous! I can’t wait to see how it ages on the boy and get’s that rough yet handsome patina and wear.

Conclusion

Both Jasper (the pup) and I are very pleased with this leather leash and collar set. They are available for purchase separately. For $35 for the collar and $45 for the leash, I really feel this is a great value for something that is very stylish, functional and built to last. Perhaps the money saved can go towards some new chew toys or bones.. Check out both the collar and leash -Here-.

Red Wing Heritage Weekender Chukka Shoe Style 3322 Review – $229.99

I’m a pretty laid back guy in terms of style, but when I found myself in the dairy isle sporting sweats and sliders while shopping, I figured it was time to upgrade a bit. I did the usual; substituting v-necks for tees, chinos over jeans, etc. Where I really struggled was over footwear. I  just really like the comfort and ease of gym shoes and didn’t want to go down the casual Oxford route. After some research I happened upon Chukkas, a kind of boot/shoe hybrid that was lightweight, casual and most importantly didn’t have neon blue mesh logos. I’m a fan of American made products and with their legendary boots, I decided to try the Red Wing Heritage Weekender Chukka.

Construction

The Weekender Chukkas upper is made from Red Wing’s Copper Rough & Tough Leather. This leather is oil tanned. This gives it desirable properties such as being water, stain and perspiration resistant. It also showcases a more natural look and feel because less finishing materials have been applied. The stitchdown construction means these can be resoled as well. Metal rivets reinforce the shoelace holes, but are hidden from view on the shoe interior. A Texan board is used in the shoe’s interior. The cushioned insole features Redwing’s proprietary Comfort Force impact absorption system and a polyurethane crepe outsole. Shoes weigh one pound each.

Function

The Weekender Chukkas are advertised as ready to go with no break in needed. For the most part this is true, the leather is very supple and flexible. The outsole is also pliable. I almost would have preferred a more stiff leather as I find the initial discomfort of breaking in stiff leather is worth the custom mold to your feet. I followed Red Wing’s suggestion and ordered a half size down, and the fit was pretty accurate with medium thick socks.  Interestingly enough, while the shoe needed no break in, the laces definitely need some coaxing. They were stiff and didn’t hold a knot well. This issue slowly mended itself though as the laces relaxed.

These shoes are definitely more comfortable than a pair of boots. I can walk several miles no problem, and prolonged standing is a breeze. These are definitely becoming my stand ins when I would normally reach for boots.

Aesthetic

The Chukka design is pretty universal among shoe manufacturers. With a lot of companies producing a visually similar product, the big differences lay in the small details. Red Wing’s craftsmanship sets a bar that most companies can’t come near. There is triple stitched panels where others use one or two. The shoelace eyelets run on the interior of the shoe for a cleaner look.

These can pretty much go with any jeans/chinos/khakis you can throw at them. Unless you have your hem above the ankle, they’ll look like full fledged boots. I love boots, but I’d definitely prefer the comfort and ease of the Chukkas almost any day, so wearing these is a great way to get best of both worlds. They have that timeless look and just exude quality.

Conclusion

For $230 dollars, you could probably buy 3 pairs of Chukkas from your local mall. However, the motto “Buy the best, only cry once” comes to mind with the Red Wing Heritage Weekender Chukka. Top notch construction means no surprises and the fact that they can be resoled, might make them the more economical choice long term as well. Great looks and comfortable, you can’t really go wrong with them so long as you get the proper size.

Ridgemont Heritage Boot Review – $169.00

I was browsing the hiking boot selection at the mall recently and just couldn’t find a single boot that looked good. Some had too much going on. Foam sidewalls, mesh panels, confusing acronyms along the heel, does it mean anything? I’m a traditionalist and like a classic, well done design. That’s how I found out about the Ridgemont Heritage Boots, a new take on a vintage style.

Construction

The uppers on the Ridgemont Heritage are a combination of waxed and oiled leathers. The collar is a waxed canvas. A hydroguard membrane provides water proof properties. The tongue is gusseted to keep out debris and liquids and the real rubber outsole features a mild lugged platform. Metal hardware secures the laces and we see double stitching along some of the high stress areas. Boots weigh about 1lb 5oz each. The midsole features an EVA cushioned footbed.

Function

My main problem with boots is accessibility. Sometimes just the premeditated thought of getting them on has me reaching for my shoes. I was relieved when the Heritage boots didn’t put up a fight in this regard. The tongue is flexible and the speed hooks allow for a quick and easy off and on experience. These boots are more comfortable than a pair of dedicated hiking boots, but less comfy than a pair of shoes.

This aspect kind of challenges you on when to wear them. If you’re going on a light hike with some friends, and going to lunch after – these are perfect. Your feet won’t be overwhelmed on moderate trails and you won’t walk into Chipotle looking like  Bear Grills. These boots are waterproof as well, so they’re great in wintertime and since the design is smooth and uncluttered they clean up pretty well. I really enjoy not having to pack a pair of sneakers when I go from the city to nature and back to the city.

Aesthetic

I’m a believer in the K.I.S.S  (Keep it simple stupid) principle. The Ridgemont’s are clean, unobtrusive and don’t pretend to be something they’re not. I’m really digging the laces and will probably get a red pair soon to really capture the vintage hiking vibe. They look good in jeans as well as shorts. They’re not particularly striking, but I don’t think they’re meant to be.

Conclusion

Ridgemont’s Heritage Boots do a good job at bridging the sneaker to boot gap in terms of convenience. The $169 price tag is pretty much ballpark with similar products. I wasn’t totally awed by them, but I also wasn’t disappointed either – and that’s what you need sometimes.

Range Leather Debuts Travellr Bag and Razor Case

Range Leather, based in Spokane, WA, has announced its third Kickstarter campaign. This time around they are offering a dopp kit, a standard razor cover, and a safety razor cover. The standard razor cover fits nearly all brands of men’s and women’s standard disposable razors. The dopp kit, dubbed the Travellr, is 9.5″ x 6″ x 2.5″, making it a useful size for a travel dopp kit or makeup bag. The dopp kit and razor cases come in all brown, or a black and brown combo.

“Travellr’s story began while traveling, when I reached into my bag and sliced open my finger on the exposed blade of my razor.  As a craftsman and leather worker, I responded by designing a razor case and travel bag so this would never happen again. Travellr is built in the US from full grain Horween leather called Buccaneer.  This specific tannage has a water resistant finish and is the perfect material for the Travellr Kit.  We craft each case by hand and assemble with copper rivets, premium brass hardware, genuine YKK zippers and durable thread. We are so confident in the construction of this bag- we are guaranteeing it for life.”

Although the Kickstarter was funded in less than two hours, you can still pick up a great dopp kit and razor case for 25-33% off retail price. We’ve been very impressed with some of Range Leather’s other products, like the Sanford Pipe Tobacco CaseRange Mug, and Gannet Wallet. Check out the Kickstarter hereRangeLeatherTravellrKitWholeRangeLeatherDoppBlackMakeupRangeLeatherDoppRazorBrownWEB
