The footwear scene has changed so much since I was a kid in the 90s. If you wanted a pair of kicks you went to Footlocker (if you were lucky) or Payless (if you were me) and you picked out a shoe and tried it on, had your mom feel for your toe and bam, done. Today’s market offers so much more. If you only look at conventional brick and mortar retailers, you’re missing out on innovative brands. One of which is Lems shoes. Read on as we take a look at the Women’s Primal Pursuit and Men’s Trailhead shoes.
Both the Primal Pursuit and Trailhead utilize an EVA outsole. The PP’s feature a vegan friendly PU synthetic upper and the Trailhead has a microfiber upper. Both shoes have mesh for breathability. Moisture wicking polyester lining on both shoes promote a dry environment. My overall impression is of a quality shoe, no loose threads or outsole separation.
What I’ve always liked about Lems is their signature Natural Shape Wide Toe Box – A lot of modern active shoes have a very cramped toe box. My wife and I really love the free, minimalist feel of the Lems which allow our feet to respond much more naturally with our environment. The light but firm padding offers a more natural gait as well.
The Primal Pursuits offer a true zero drop (Meaning your foot sits totally level in the shoe) which is great for my wife who has ankles problems from college basketball. The Trailhead’s have a slight 4mm drop. Both shoes are incredibly lightweight and grippy on pavement as well as the trail. It’s so nice having a do it all shoe!
Lems have really hit that sweet spot in terms of styling. We both really dig the retro sneaker look with some contemporary refinements. You’d be hard pressed to find a shoe that can look good in jeans as well as hiking shorts. The vibrant colorways really pop and also do a good job at blending in trail dirt as well as city sludge. Thanks to the PU/Microfiber exteriors they clean up well too.
We really enjoyed taking a look at the Lems Women’s Primal Pursuits and Men’s Trailhead sneakers. Lems did a fantastic job in creating a stylish, capable shoe at a fair price point. Lems has grown their lineup substantially and it’s really worth taking a second look.
